ABOUT ME
UNVEILING THE POET
When I was in high school, in English class, we read the Canterbury Tales and Edgar Allan Poe's
The Raven, and I was immediately hooked on poetry. I graduated from high school in 1972.
I started writing my own poetry in a marble composition notebook which I kept on a shelf in my bedroom closet. Years later I joined the Air Force, and when I came home on vacation after Basic Training and Technical Training, I found out my notebooks with my poems were destroyed by my younger siblings.
Fast forward to 1998, I'm 45 years old, with a degree in Hospital Administration and Management, with a minor in Computer Troubleshooting and Repair, and a pharmacy degree, as a Registered Pharmacist.
I saw an advertisement in a newspaper about a poetry contest, and I entered and won third place for a Villanelle I wrote, and I picked up writing poetry again. This time, I told myself, I'm going to create books of my work so when I die my children and their children, and so on, could have proof I existed, and written proof of the poetry I had written. In creating the books, my work wouldn't be lost either. Now, I've completed, by Oct 2022, three books, "The Broken Heart of the Hummingbird," The Poet's Search for Leonardo," and "The First Thing We Do: Let's Kill All the Politicians." That's three books in 2022, and I have four more books on the back burners waiting to be written. So, I am by no means done writing poetry.

ODE TO LEONARDO DA VINCI
O Renaissance man, I've enjoyed the hours,
Your works have now this poet's heart.
Which Muse has given you the awesome powers
To fascinate me with your art?
Your canvas lives where inspiration flows,
Your paint like water for the rose,
Where thousand points of light in heaven move,
Which brightly shine to guide your eyes,
Your brush adhering to the things you love,
And by their beauty, hypnotize.
Upon your frame the many forms I've seen,
Their native blush, their sacred mien,
You've painted not a single charm in vain,
To move me to a higher plane.
My praises may they reach your listening ear,
And heed my Muse has shed a tear.
Now paint and verse will jointly in me dwell,
If Nature with me be so kind,
Where poet and the painter room entwined,
Forever in your magic spell.

I also do all of my own poetry book covers. I prepare covers for eBooks on Kindle, Softcover book design, and also hard cover book design all for upload to KDP and sale on Amazon. You supply the cover photo and title of the book and I do the rest. Or, you supply the title of the book, and a brief synopsis of the contents (or theme) and I'll find a picture suitable to the title. Reasonably priced.
